FAQ

  • Why consider therapy?

Therapy offers a chance to slow down, take a breath, and reconnect with yourself. Many of us never learned how to navigate big emotions or handle the challenges that show up in relationships, whether with a partner, family, friends, or even ourselves. Together, we can explore what feels heavy or stuck and create space for healing and growth. Therapy can be especially supportive if you are moving through anxiety, depression, stress, overwhelm, trauma, or relationship struggles.

  • How do we get started?

We begin with a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is a gentle first step where you can share what brings you to therapy and ask any questions. If it feels like a good fit, we will schedule your first session, either online or in person. Before we meet, I will send you a few forms and details about how to connect. In our first session, we will explore your story, what you are hoping for, and where you would like to grow. From there, we will move into regular sessions that combine exploration with practical tools to support you between meetings.

  • What are your fees and policies?

Individual therapy sessions are $210 for 45 minutes.

Couples therapy sessions are $260 for 60 minutes.

Coaching sessions are $450 for 60 minutes.

Sliding scale is not available at this time.

I do not take insurance, but Modern Mind provides a “superbill” or monthly statement if you would like to request out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Cancellations or rescheduling require 48 hours notice to avoid being charged the full session fee. Please reschedule Monday appointments by the Friday prior.

  • What is the difference between EMDR and Somatic EMDR?

EMDR is a proven therapy that uses gentle bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or tapping, to help the brain reprocess painful memories so they feel less overwhelming. Somatic EMDR includes the body more directly in this process. Since trauma often lives in the body as tension, numbness, or restlessness, Somatic EMDR helps release these patterns and restore a sense of safety and balance.

I practice Somatic EMDR because I believe lasting healing happens when both the mind and body are included. This approach supports deeper nervous system regulation and helps clients feel more grounded and whole.

  • How long will therapy take?

There is no single answer. The length of therapy depends on your goals, the pace that feels right for you, and the depth of the work you want to do. Healing and change often unfold gradually, and that is completely natural. Along the way, we will check in together to make sure our work is meeting your needs and supporting your growth.

  • Do Marriage and Family Therapists only work with couples or families?

Despite the title, MFTs are trained to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups across all stages of life. The name reflects the training, not the limit of who we can support.
